Keep calm and use Apivar

Varroa mite infestation can be a real buzzkill, especially with the climate warming up and shorter brood break periods during winter. Managing these pesky mites requires frequent hive checks throughout the year and quick action if you spot an abnormal infestation. In the varroa toolbox of beekeepers, you’ll find various treatments (flash and long-term), as well as biotechnical methods (like brood removal, drone brood trapping, queen caging, splitting colonies and so on).

Apivar can be a formidable ally in your Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategy. This amitraz-based varroa treatment comes in the form of plastic strips with a slow-release mechanism. With its treatment duration of 6 to 10 weeks and no temperature constraints during use, Apivar is a great weapon to deploy as an end-of-season treatment.

Winter is coming… you’d better bee prepared

Besides its efficacy, Apivar offers a sweet bonus… winter survival rates. An association of beekeepers from the East of France has monitored winter survival for over 10 years (that’s over 86,000 colonies!) depending on the mite treatment used.1

Guess what? Apivar had the lowest winter mortality rate (16%, compared to 18% to 35% for other treatments) 1. By using Apivar, you’re not just treating mites; you’re giving your bees a fighting chance to make it through winter. So, whether you’re a seasoned beekeeper or a newbie, trust Apivar to keep your hives buzzing happily through the winter and beyond.
