Why does Véto-pharma contribute to securing our food future?

Véto-pharma recognizes the critical role of pollinating insects in global food production and is actively contributing to the sustainability of the planet’s food system. Here are some reasons why Véto-pharma has a positive impact on global food production.

Responding to the challenges facing the livestock sector

We are focused on Animal Health
As a company committed to animal health, we likely develop products and solutions that contribute to the well-being of livestock animals and bees. Healthy animals are essential for a stable and sustainable food supply.

We develop innovative products
Our laboratory invest in research and development to create innovative products that support both animal health and the overall health of ecosystems. This could include products that enhance the coexistence of agriculture and pollinators.

Preserving ecosystems sustainably

We support biodiversity
Supporting pollinating insects aligns with biodiversity conservation efforts. Pollinators play a vital role in maintaining diverse ecosystems and ensuring the reproduction of many plant species, including those that form the basis of our food supply.

We promote sustainable agriculture
By recognizing the importance of pollination, we may actively promote and support sustainable agricultural practices. This could include advocating for pollinator-friendly farming methods.

We implement educational initiatives
We engage in educational initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of pollinators in the food system. Educating farmers, stakeholders, and the general public about the role of pollinators can lead to more informed and sustainable practices.

Working in synergy with stakeholders

We collaborate with Stakeholders
Collaborating with beekeepers, farmers, environmental organizations, and other stakeholders is crucial for addressing the complex challenges associated with pollinator health. We actively engage in partnerships to implement practical solutions.

Corporate Responsibility
By emphasizing the positive impact on global food production, we demonstrate corporate responsibility. This commitment can resonate positively with all stakeholders who prioritize sustainability and ethical business practices.

Why are pollinators vital for our food system?

  • Over 75% of the world’s main crops depend on the pollination of food-producing plant species: fruit, vegetables, nuts, coffee, etc. (1).
  • Over 30% of our food depends on honey bee pollination (2).
  • Around 140 million flowers can be pollinated by 1 colony of honey bees in 1 day. (3)
  • The global bee population has increased by 45% since 1950. The proportion of agriculture dependent on animal pollination has also increased by more than 300%. (4)
  • On average, a 100% increase in pollinators increases yields by 24% in crops that depend on pollinators. (4)
  • Honey bees also play an essential role in the production and quality of fodder (agricultural or natural meadows). Forage is an essential feedstuff for farm animals and contributes to the quality of meat, milk and dairy products such as cheese. (5)
